Tesla in court – the parking giant demands that the car company pay for unpaid parking

The parking company Riverty, which handles the invoices for a number of parking cases, including Onepark, demands that Tesla pay NOK 889,000 for the parking, writes the magazine Motor.

Some of the parking is also done by Tesla Norway’s employees.

Last week, the case was heard in the Oslo district court.

When using license plate recognition, vehicles can drive out of parking spaces without the driver making up for himself immediately. If the fee is not paid within 48 hours, the owners of the car, which in this case is Tesla, receive an invoice.

Over several years, Tesla Norway has paid similar invoices for Riverty, but now they have disagreed that this is something they should pay for. Earlier this summer, there was NOK 131,000 outstanding, but since then it has grown considerably.

In addition to refusing to pay the amount, Tesla Norway has refused to state which customers have borrowed the cars. This means that Riverty cannot send the bills directly to the customers.

Tesla believes that when the parking system makes it possible to drive from the parking facility before paying, it is the parking company itself that bears the risk and thus also the responsibility for collecting the money.

The verdict has not been passed, but when the conciliation council dealt with the case earlier, Tesla was sentenced to pay for the parking.
