Forget what Elon Musk said during the Cybertruck presentation conference. It is very likely that a lot of things have changed in the meantime. These are not rumors, but the words of the CEO of Tesla.
Tesla will have to adjust its Cybertruck
We are 1 year away from the release of the Cybertruck. This may seem distant, yet in Elon Musk’s space-time, it is a rather short period. The first interested party described some developments on this ultra futuristic electric pickup.
We will have to expect “adjustments”, especially because of the inflation that is hitting the Tech world hard. During a meeting with the shareholders, the question obviously came up. “Where is the Cybertruck and what can we expect from it, four years following the announcement.”
Unfortunately, the response was not as expected. by those present during this meeting:
The price for booking the Cybertruck, which was unveiled in 2019, was $99 and a lot has changed since then. Specifications and prices will be different. I know that’s a bit of bad news but there was no way to anticipate the inflation that occurred and the various issues but what I can say is the Cybertruck will be a hell of a product. It will be one hell of a nice machine.
The Cybertruck will change for the worse
The price hike already seemed inevitable. Announced in 2019, the automotive market has changed a lot since then. Between wars, the pandemic and skyrocketing inflation, everything is going up. Especially since for Elon Musk, the goal was to launch the Cybertruck the cheapest at 40,000 dollars, or 36,000 euros at the November 2019 exchange rate.
The price is not the only thing that will be changed. Elon Musk also talks regarding a modification of the technical sheet. This is a more important question. The first signs came last year, when Tesla has removed specifications for the electric pickup from its page.
Initially, we were to have three models, each with a different engine configuration. The versions were distributed with 1, 2 and 3 engines per vehicle and ranges of 400 to 800 km. Today impossible to know what Elon Musk has in mind to compensate for the lack of microcomponents. We also don’t know if the changes will come to the motor and battery part.or on the technology on board the Cybertruck.
Tesla’s electric vehicle is expected to be manufactured at the Texas Gigafactory in Austin. The Italian company Idra should also deliver the future Giga Press there, to make the exoskeleton of the Cybertruck. Elon Musk added: “We will be installing production equipment in the coming months.
If all goes well, the Cybertruck should finally see the light of day around July 2023.
