Elon Musk, founder and chief executive of US electric car maker Tesla, said in a recent interview that Tesla’s current competitors are mainly from China because “China’s belief in manufacturing is very strong.” When he compared the status of workers in China and the United States, he praised the talent and hard work of Chinese workers.
“Tesla boss Elon Musk praised Chinese workers,” the British “Independent” reported on the 10th local time that Tesla CEO Elon Musk compared the status of Chinese workers and American workers in an interview.
The world’s richest man made the comparison in an online interview with the Financial Times, the report said. When asked which electric vehicle startup impressed him the most so far, Musk first praised Volkswagen’s achievements in electric vehicles, and then said that Tesla’s current competition is mainly From China, and Tesla has a manufacturing plant in Shanghai, China.
The report said that Musk did not mention its competitors in the US market, the US new energy vehicle start-up Lucid Motors and US electric car maker Rivian, but praised China. “I think there’s going to be some really strong companies in China, and there’s a lot of super talented and hardworking people in China who have a very strong belief in manufacturing,” Musk said.
“Not only do they (Chinese workers) work until late at night, they work until 3 a.m., they don’t even leave the factory, and in the US, people try not to go to work,” Musk said.
Some netizens also made a comparison and said that Musk said there was no problem. “The Chinese also buy cars. It would be wise to open factories in China. Most ‘American’ companies outsource to China (or Mexico, Vietnam, etc.). Most ‘American workers’ over-tighten bolts, slam bearings, and demand $70/hour (salary).”
