According to journalists, the number of publications on the Internet devoted to the problem is quite large. Car enthusiasts say that a Tesla electric car driving in autopilot or Full Self-Driving (FSD) mode can hit a curb. According to users, this happens because the car “cuts” the corner too much when turning.
“The car hits the curb every time I make a right turn,” said Reddit user donovanchak. “FSD likes to drive so close to the edge of the road that one day he will hit a dog. It’s a matter of time,” noted a site visitor under the nickname jaqueh. YouTube user under the nickname somewhatmu published a video in which he showed that in autopilot mode the electric car forcefully touches the edge of the road and noticeably touches the curb stone.
InsideEVs journalists noted that some users said that following such maneuvers, the wheels or tires of their cars were scratched or damaged. One of the Tesla owners emphasized that replacing a wheel at an official dealer costs $870 and the company did not carry out warranty repairs even if there was a video recording of the accident.
Owners of Elon Musk brand cars and Reddit visitors asked Tesla to make changes to the FSD firmware. The company has not yet publicly responded to the problem.
In mid-April, Tesla Corporation offered its customers to subscribe to the Full Self-Driving autopilot system at a discount. If FSD was previously available for $199 per month, then since April Tesla has allowed the purchase of a subscription for $99.
