Terrorist group reportedly killed 100 of its own fighters

The group Al Shabab –according to reports from the Somali government– it would have killed more than a hundred of its own fighters who were wounded following losing control of Aden Yabal, city taken by the jihadists for six years. “Before fleeing, the terrorists killed there more than a hundred of their members who were injured during the fighting ( once morest the Somali Army),” the country’s Ministry of Information said in a statement.

The Government of Somalia described the fact as a serious “violation of human rights” alien “to Islam, humanity and Somali culture.” According to the document, the Somali military “was alarmed” to find mass graves filled with corpses and the stench of rotting meat. The announcement was made following a visit by senior government dignitaries to Aden Jabal.

Al Shabab, affiliated group since 2012 to the network Al Qaeda, perpetrates terrorist attacks in the capital Mogadishu, and other points to overthrow the central government —backed by the international community— and establish by force an Islamic State of the Wahhabi (ultra-conservative) style. The jihadist group controls rural areas in central and southern Somalia and also attacks neighboring countries such as Kenya and Ethiopia.

Since last August, when the Somali president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamudannounced “a total war” to “eliminate” Al Shabab, the Army has waged intense battles once morest the terrorists, sometimes with the military collaboration of the United States.
