Islamabad: A case has been registered against 40 female students including the wife of the ex-khatib of Lal Masjid and other people on separate charges including terrorism.
According to the report of Dawn newspaper, the police said that the students of Jamia Hafsa, led by Umm Hasan, reached Bahria Town Phase 4 with armed men and blocked the road. He said that they were raising slogans against the government and the district administration.
The group alleged that with the connivance of the capital’s police and administration, immoral activities were taking place in the surrounding areas. They forcibly closed the commercial centers and shops and threatened the traders with dire consequences.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and informed the protestors about the enforcement of Section 144 of the CrPC. An official vehicle was also damaged.
The police further said that the students forcibly closed the business centers. Earlier, Umm Hasan claimed in a video message that Jamia Hafsa has been functioning in Bahria Town since 2008 or 2009 and is surrounded by obscenity and nudity while the local authorities ignore the whole issue.
He also said that families cannot come here after sunset while the administration is helpless as the police is reluctant to take action. He had alleged in the video that the senior officers of the police and the administration were supporting each other.
Umm Hasan had asked the Home Minister, IGP, DIG and DC to take action against those involved, otherwise they would take action, adding, “When it came to my daughters, I I will not tolerate it.”
