A tragedy was perhaps narrowly avoided this Saturday evening, on the eve of Christmas Eve, in the very center of Ixelles. While the party was in full swing on Place Flagey, a man pulled out a pistol following a verbal altercation with a group of friends present at the time on the crowded terrace of the famous Ixelles café.
Two shootings and an explosion in a few days on rue Wéry, in Ixelles
It was around 1 a.m. that a clash took place between a man in his twenties and a group of three friends who had left the bar to get some fresh air. Far from being threatening at first, the man quickly raised his voice before taking out a weapon that he was hiding under his jacket, inserted between his pants and his back. The group of friends then decided to distance themselves from this man who began to follow them, appearing more and more threatening, pushing several party-goers to quickly leave the bar terrace.
A group of people then pinned him to the ground before the two criminal lawyers Courtois and Degrève Garnica, present on the scene, took away his weapon and the magazine filled with bullets, to avoid any tragedy. While continuing to neutralize the man on the ground, the duo waited for two police suits to arrive before being questioned immediately. According to our information, a magistrate came to the site while the man should be interviewed this Sunday.
