Now the police are investigating a 37-year-old Vorarlberg woman who is said to be responsible for the death of a mother and her child in Villach.
On Saturday evening, a 43-year-old woman and her five-year-old son were hit by a car and killed in Villach. It may not be a “normal” traffic accident, as the spokesman for the Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office, Markus Kitz, explained to the APA on Sunday. There are still a few things to be clarified: “Some circumstances gave us food for thought, which is why the Carinthia State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation.”
Villach. According to Kitz, the accident driver, a 37-year-old woman from Vorarlberg, has no reference points to Villach or Carinthia. “So we want to know why she was there.” It should also be clarified why the accident happened in an area where it is unlikely, it is a 30 km/h zone. In addition, there is the fact that the dead woman and the woman from Vorarlberg may have known each other.
Did the victim and driver know each other?
Kitz: “The ex-husband of the 37-year-old is the father of the five-year-old boy.” The 43-year-old had previously been with him, but the relationship had ended in the meantime. Now it has to be clarified whether the accident driver had had contact with the woman from Villach and whether it was a coincidence that they met there. It is also still unclear what caused the driver of the car to be seriously injured. After the collision, she drove regarding 500 meters further, her car was found in a wooded area, she herself was not only injured, but also suffered a severe shock.
Arranged an autopsy of the dead
The woman was taken to the state hospital in Villach. She was put into artificial deep sleep there and can therefore not be questioned at the moment. “We are now purely dependent on our objective evidence, which we have to work out,” said Kitz. It will be important to find the ex-husband of the two women.
An autopsy on the victims of the accident was ordered. In addition, a motor vehicle technician was commissioned to take a closer look at the accident. Kitz expects the first investigation results in the next two days. He hopes that the 37-year-old will soon be able to be heard. “Then we’ll know more.” At the moment one is also looking for possible eyewitnesses to the incident that happened on St. Johanner Straße.
note d. Editor: The police changed the age of the accident driver from 25 to 37 years.
