Maciej Rybus left Legia Warszawa in 2012 and went to Russia. Since then, he has played only in local clubs, including an episodic adventure with Olympique Lyon. Even the war in Ukraine did not make him leave Vladimir Putin’s country, which practically ruined his career and, above all, the opportunity to play in the Polish national team. He spent last year in Rubin Kazan, but it was not a successful cooperation. He was sidelined for almost the entire season due to injury.

– I would like to stay in Rubin, but I don’t know what awaits me – he said in May. Ultimately, the club’s authorities did not fulfill his wishes and did not extend his contract. He remained a free agent since July, waiting for offers from the Premier League or foreign leagues, but no satisfactory ones appeared. It was only a few days ago that he found a job, although this was not what he had hoped for. He became a player of the amateur club Aminjewo. Will it stay there longer?
Maciej Rybus on the cusp? Ready to even consider offers from… the media league
– Rybus is a friend of our friends. We asked them to call him and help us. And he, because he is nice, couldn’t refuse us. (…) This is not a story with money in the background. Maciej won’t earn anything with us. We invited him to play as friends, and he accepted the offer, said Igor Dorosinec, president of Aminjewo.
Rybus has repeatedly declared that he does not intend to end his career yet. Thus, it became clear that the mentioned club would be the so-called a place to wait. And now this has also been confirmed by the player’s agent himself. He gave an interview to sport-express.ru and told a little more about the client’s plans for the future.
– Maciej must now train and be ready for the winter transfer window. We will consider every offer, even those from the media league. He recently took part in FC10 training [jedna z drużyn rywalizujących w lidze mediów, przyp. red.]because he remains on friendly terms with Brian Idowu. So he just dropped in there – revealed Roman Oreszczuk.
It has been said for a long time that a Pole could join this competition. However, this is definitely below his ambitions. But he may have no choice if he doesn’t want to actually give up football. And his agent argued that he still wanted to play football. – We are not thinking about suspending our career. He still exercises at the gym with a physical preparation trainer, he added.
Problemy, problemy Rybusa
He also told us a little more about the offers that have appeared recently. – We received several proposals in the summer, but they did not suit Maciej. FNL [druga liga w Rosji – przyp. red.]? No, no offer came from there. But Rybus wouldn’t consider them this summer anyway – concluded the agent.
Thus, the Pole’s career became much more complicated. It seems that currently he can only look for employment in Russia. And all because of his gestures and actions he committed after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
For example, in May he took part in the celebration of a Russian holiday called Victory Day. He was wearing a black and yellow Saint ribbon at the time. George, which is considered by many to be a symbol of Russian nationalism and separatist movements supported by the Russian authorities. Images from this event also reached Poland and Rybus faced severe criticism in his homeland.
