A fire broke out in a furniture market shop in Arshi Shopping Mall on Ayesha Manzil on Wednesday evening, which soon engulfed the rest of the shops.

The fire initially broke out only in the shops, but later, as the intensity of the fire increased, it engulfed the residential flats above the building.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that the rescue operation is ongoing and the death of three people has been confirmed as a result of the fire.

Earlier, Joharabad Police Officer Yasir said that according to initial reports, the fire started in a shop on the ground floor and spread rapidly.

The spokesperson of K Electric said that as soon as the fire at Arshi Mall was reported, the electricity in the area has been disconnected in view of safety.

Rescue 1122 director Abid Sheikh while talking to private TV said that most of the people have been evacuated from the affected building and the rescue operation is going on and efforts are being made to control the fire as soon as possible.

Governor and Chief Minister took notice of the incident

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesuri has taken notice of the incident of fire in Ka Arshi Center and directed to ensure the safe evacuation of the people inside the center.

He directed the Commissioner Karachi to use all possible resources to control the fire.

Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (Rtd) Maqbool Baqir has taken notice of the incident of fire in a building near Ayesha Manzil and directed to take steps to control the fire immediately.

He said that the fire should be brought under control as soon as possible so that there is no major damage and people can be brought to a safe place.

He ordered the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner to reach the spot and monitor the matter, and also order more fire brigade vehicles to reach the spot and put out the fire.

10 days before this incident, on November 25, 11 people died and 22 people were injured due to smoke suffocation due to a fire in a shopping mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi.
