Terre de Blues Festival 2023: Youssou N’Dour announced as headliner

The Terre de Blues festival is making a comeback following 3 blank years. The program for this 21st edition has been unveiled. Senegalese artist Youssou N’Dour will be the headliner. African, American and Guadeloupean artists are also announced.



The long-awaited program of the 21st edition of the Terre de Blues Festival, from May 26 to 29, at the Murat habitation, was announced this Friday, February 24.

Rumors had been swirling for several weeks. Some information had even leaked. The president of the Marie-Galante Tourist Office has put an end to the suspense.

Youssou N’Dour will be the headliner of Terre de Blues 2023!

A committed artist, in 1985 he organized a concert to demand the release of Nelson Mandela. He has been a goodwill ambassador for Unicef ​​and has been involved with several humanitarian associations.

He left the scene for a few years to enter politics fully, becoming the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Macky Sall, Senegalese President, then Minister of Tourism and Leisure, before becoming Minister-Counsellor.

The artist has returned to the stage and will therefore be present at Marie-Galante this year.

Nigeria will also be honored for this 21st Terre de Blues with the arrival of Yemi Alade. The queen of Afro-pop? Known for her titles Johnny or Baddie, is a phenomenon on the African continent and in several countries.

The songwriter has also had collaborations with renowned international artists, such as Mary J Blige, rapper Rick Ross or the legendary Angélique Kidjo.

Currently, with names like Burna Boy, CKay or Davido, Afro-beats have been exploding for a few years.

Several Guadeloupean artists will also perform on the festival stage. Célia Wa who distills a clever mix of jazz, hip hop or gwo ka, according to her songs. An artist to discover.

Another voice that needs no introduction, Florence Naprix. A lover of jazz and great voices, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, she is a jack-of-all-trades. She played the artist Manuela Pioche in the show “Dans la peau de Mano”. She is now a safe bet on the Caribbean scene.

Donald Ray Johnson and Aswad, a group with the unforgettable title “Shine” released in 1994, were also to be part of the distribution in 2020. They will be present this year.

Generation Zouk and the salsa group Orquesta Broadway are also announced.

As with every edition, a springboard stage bringing together emerging talents will be offered to festival-goers.

And of course, all of Marie-Galante will vibrate during this Pentecost weekend. Many events and concerts will be organized in the restaurants of the island.
