Football fans got to watch Maryland deliver a 50-7 thrashing of UConn in last weekend’s season opener. Now they can be among millions cheering on Terps in the NFL.
Two former University of Maryland student-athletes scored spots on the roster of the Baltimore Ravens before Thursday night’s Week One clash with the Kansas City Chiefs. Rookies Beau Brade and Corey Bullock, who played in College Park just last year, are among 20 Terps in the NFL in 2024.
Meet some of the Terps as they trot out onto the turf this fall.
The Rookies
Beautiful Brade officially made the Baltimore Ravens’ 53-man roster on Aug. 27. The undrafted free agent from Clarksville, Md., grew up a Ravens fan and even played for the Columbia Ravens as a kid. In 2023 with the Terrapins, Brade started all 12 games he played in and received an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. He led the team in tackles for the second straight season with 75 total tackles and 48 solo and ranked second on the team with six passes broken up.
Corey Bullock also signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent and began the 2024 season on the practice squad. He started at left guard with the Terps last year and earned an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. In 2023 he was the second-highest-rated pass-blocking guard in the Big Ten conference, according to Pro Football Focus with a 79.6 grade.
Delmar Glaze was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round (77th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. In 2023, Glaze earned Third All-Big Ten Honors, starting every game for the Terps at left tackle. Glaze anchored an offensive line that blocked for the fourth-ranked overall offense in the Big Ten (387.3 ypg) and the top-ranked passing offense (278.9 passing ypg) in the league. Last year, he was ranked as the second-highest-rated pass-blocking tackle in the Big Ten, according to Pro Football Focus, with an 83.1 grade.
Tarheeb Still was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round (137th overall). In 2023, he earned Second All-Big Ten honors, starting in all 10 games he played for the Terps at corner. Still tied for third nationally in interceptions per game at 0.5 and tied for sixth nationally in total interceptions with five on the season. He appeared in 39 games (starting 37) for the Terps over his four seasons in College Park.
The Veterans
Stefon Diggs enters his 10th season in the NFL with a new team: the Houston Texans. He topped 1,100 receiving yards in each of his four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, including leading the NFL with 127 catches and 1,535 yards in his first season. The former Viking helped the Bills to the playoffs every year he was in Buffalo as he tallied 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns.
D.J. Moore had a stellar first season with the Chicago Bears last season. In his sixth season as a pro, he set career bests in receptions (96), receiving yards (1,364) and touchdowns (8). On July 30, Moore signed a four-year, $110 million extension with the Bears. He also became the first wide receiver to have their first 10 seasons guaranteed in NFL history.
Darnell Savage Jr., a veteran safety, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent. A first-round selection by the Packers in the 2019 NFL Draft, he started 69 of 72 games in five seasons in Green Bay. Savage has nine career interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown, and 306 tackles, including 222 solos. He has been credited with 34 passes defensed and nine tackles for loss.
Deonte Banks enters his second season in the NFL after a strong showing his rookie season. Banks was the Giants’ first round selection (24th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. He started all 15 games in which he played last season, tallying 64 tackles (53 solo), two tackles for loss, two interceptions and 11 passes defensed.
Chigoziem Okonkwo enters his third season with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. After being named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team in 2022, Okonokwo had a stellar sophomore campaign in 2023. The tight end from Powder Springs, Ga., caught 54 passes for 528 yards and a touchdown while playing in 17 games, with 11 starts.
