It is not 24 but 27 Grand Slam titles that Novak Djokovic’s opponents will have to face. The Serbian, record holder for Grand Slam victories with 24 coronations, announced on Saturday November 23 that he would be accompanied by Andy Murray, three Majors on the clock and just retired, as coach from next season .

Having fallen back to seventh in the world at the end of a disappointing season without a title on the ATP circuit, the 37-year-old himself published the surprise announcement on his social networks through a video recounting their multiple battles on the courts.

“I’m thrilled to have one of my biggest rivals on the same side of the net as me, this time as a coach. I can’t wait to start the season with Andy and have him by my side at Melbourne, where we have shared many exceptional moments throughout our careers”said the Serbian player in a statement. The cooperation of the two players will begin at the Australian Open, which will be held from January 12.
