A Tennessee woman is accused of hiring a hitman to murder the wife of a man she met on a dating site.

According to a criminal complaint reviewed by People magazine, Melody Sasser used the “dark web” to choose a hitman. Using the username “cattree”, she allegedly placed an order for almost $10,000 to murder the spouse of a man she met on Match.com.

“It has to look like an accident, because I don’t want there to be a long investigation. She recently moved in with her new husband,” Sasser’s murder request reads, as reported by People.

Authorities were quickly alerted to Sasser’s dark web posting and informed the intended target of the alleged plan.

During a police interview, the alleged target’s husband said he met Sasser on Match.com.

According to the complaint filed with local authorities, the alleged target said Sasser showed up at their home unannounced following learning of the couple’s engagement.

The alleged target also told authorities her vehicle was damaged and she received threats, People reports.

Authorities say Sasser monitored the whereregardings of the alleged target and her husband through a sports app on their Garmin watches.

According to court documents, following Sasser placed her initial order on January 11, 2023, she sent a follow-up message to the site administrator in March, complaining regarding the delay in having the woman killed.

“I’ve waited 2 months and 11 days and the job isn’t done yet,” she reportedly wrote. “Should we entrust the task to someone else? What is the deadline?”

Sasser faces a charge of contracted murder.
