Tencent restricts underage gamers to 1 hour from the first to the sixth day of the new year + face recognition – Hong Kong unwire.hk

Tencent announced that during the New Year’s holiday, games for underage players will be banned, restricting them to log in to its games for 1 hour on designated days, and said it will add face recognition to prevent underage players from entering the game illegally.

Tencent Games said in Weibo today that in order to combine the “Notice on Further Strict Management to Effectively Prevent Minors from Indulging in Online Games” and the actual holiday arrangement, it will limit the time for minors to play its games during the New Year’s holiday. All underage players can only log in to the game during January 21-23, January 28, January 31-February 6, and February 11-13 from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and the rest of the time are not allowed to enter. Tencent Games specially reminds underage players that January 29th to 30th are all banned dates.

As for a minor who entered the game through the account of the elderly at home during the ban time earlier, Tencent Games stated that in order to prevent similar incidents from happening once more, all players with an account of the elderly over 55 years old are required to log in at night. Only face recognition can enter the game, and parents can set the account to minor mode. In addition, Tencent Games will also require frequent logins to accounts on more than one device for face recognition.
