The Flemish Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) will begin renovation work on the R2, which runs through the Antwerp port area, on May 3. The surface will be completely redone between the E34 and the Beveren tunnel, in both directions. This project will take place over ten weekends, spread over the months of May, June and July. The work will be carried out from Friday evening 8 p.m. to Monday morning 4:30 a.m., as well as Pentecost Monday.
In total, 15 kilometers of roads will be made of new bitumen. The section has been divided into eight zones and the work will progress gradually. The area under construction will be completely closed to traffic, which will be diverted locally.
The total cost of the work is 6.3 million euros.
