Ten puppies abandoned at the edge of the forest

The nine-week-old animals were “disposed of” in two boxes, as an employee of Arche Noah – Aktiver Tierschutz Austria told APA on Monday. A couple of pensioners discovered the little Labrador crossbreeds at the edge of the forest. For the time being, they found shelter in Noah’s Ark. However, there is currently a lack of space in the shelter.

The dogs were taken to safety.

capacity limit reached

“The boxes were already soaked and it probably wouldn’t have been long before the puppies would have wandered around freely in the unfamiliar environment,” reported Katharina Gründl from Arche Noah – Aktiver Tierschutz Austria. Since the animal rescue team of Active Animal Welfare was on duty at the time, an employee of Noah’s Ark agreed to pick up the squeaking little furry friends. There were four females and six males. The ten newcomers are “doing well given the circumstances”. As soon as the puppies are ready for adoption, they will be on the homepage aktivertierschutz.at/vergabehunde presented.

According to Gründl, the animal shelter is currently approaching its capacity limits because more and more pet owners want to give up their animals: “People simply find it difficult to keep their pets when prices are getting more and more expensive.” At the same time, the capacity is limited: “We have reserved 80 percent of our total places for official animals, so we only have 32 places for dogs and 64 for cats for delivered animals,” said the spokeswoman. She assumes that the animals were abandoned because the possibility of housing dogs in animal shelters is currently very limited.
