Ten people linked to the capture of “El Mayo” Zambada are killed in Sinaloa

Four of the homicides were recorded on Friday and six more on Saturdayexplained in a press conference the governor of Sinaloa (northwest), Rubén Rocha Moya, at the center of a controversy after being implicated by Zambada in the events surrounding his arrest in the United States.

The crimes are linked to “the environment that is occurring after July 25, when the incident occurred.”the capture of two characters from criminal organizations“, the governor added.

He was referring to Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of the imprisoned drug trafficker Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman, arrested after land both in a private plane in New MexicoUSA.

One of the people killed over the weekend would be Martin Garcia Corralesalleged collaborator of Zambada and for whom the United States offers a reward of US$4 millionaccording to several Mexican media.

However, the governor did not confirm whether one of those killed is Corral, who was arrested by a court in the Southern District of New York charged in 2023 with conspiracy to import fentanyl and possession of machine guns and “destructive devices,” according to a fact sheet posted by the U.S. State Department on its website.

That review identifies García Corrales as a “close collaborator” of Zambadafor whom Washington offered 15 million dollars.

Early Monday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said in his usual press conference that his government wishes that “the situation in Sinaloa does not worsen,” noting that despite the capture of Zambada, “very stable in terms of violence“.
