Manchester United coach Eric ten Hag said that the English club is looking to sign a new striker to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo following the termination of the contract with the Portuguese star following a controversial television interview.
Ronaldo said in an interview with interviewer Piers Morgan last month that he felt betrayed by United and had no respect for manager Ten Hag.
United then announced Ronaldo’s immediate departure, ending his second term following his return in August 2021 following winning eight titles with the team between 2003 and 2009.
And regarding the possibility of signing a new striker, Ten Hag told reporters, “Yes, but when we find the right player.”
The Dutch coach added, “We do everything we can and look for every available opportunity. I cannot comment on specific players, I will never do that. I respect every player who has a contract, but we are working to find suitable players.”
United will meet its second-class Alex Reed, Burnley, in the League Cup on December 21, following the end of the World Cup in Qatar.
