Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag confirmed that the main problem hampering his team was a lack of intensity and strength following he had to come from behind to beat Cypriot host Omonia Nicosia 3-2 in the European Football League on Thursday night.
United trailed 1-0 in the first half before Marcus Rashford scored a double and Anthony Martial added the third goal in the second half to lead the team to victory.
The victory came four days following United lost 6-3 to Manchester City in the Premier League.
“We have to keep going and every time we learn lessons and do our best,” Ten Hag told reporters. At the moment, by far, we’re not that good.
“We saw what happened last Sunday and we have to do much better,” he said. I think the main problem is, that what we did in the games before was much better – strength and intensity.
The Dutch coach added: We have to make every match strong on the field. That was the big difference between us and City, so this is what is required of our team and all our players and you have to take responsibility for that.
United, sixth in the league, play at Everton on Sunday.
