Ten Emmen lost against Oss

Unfortunately, we were unable to record our third home win in a row. A match once morest TOP Oss, in which all was not going well, ended in 0-1.

The Emmen team shot out of the starting blocks and bluffed the visitors. The first to fire on the Osse goal was Julius Dirksen. From regarding thirty meters he shot hard towards the intersection, but TOP goalkeeper Mike Havekotte saved. Joey Konings then hit the post from close range and Maikel Kieftenbeld also had a good shooting opportunity. Due to the high pace of Fred Grim’s team, TOP Oss gave away a lot of space and Emmen made good use of it. It was a small miracle that it was still 0-0 at De Oude Meerdijk following fifteen minutes.

After that first fifteen minutes, the visitors tried to pick up the pace – and with success. Emmen became less compelling and slowly but surely TOP Oss handed out pinpricks. One of those pinpricks even turned into a hit; Joshua Zimmerman passed to Abel Stenstrud and the Norwegian headed home.

That goal helped put Oss in the saddle. Yet Emmen seemed to be on the same level before half time. Konings tapped in a low cross from Desley Ubbink, but the goal was disallowed. Referee Martin Pérez, who allowed a lot, disallowed the goal for a reason inexplicable to Emmen. Konings is said to have committed a foul before tapping in the ball. So it was 0-1 at halftime.

Up to ten
Even following the break, Emmen immediately started looking for the goal. Konings was soon close; After a clever through ball from Lucas Bernadou, the striker turned away well, but he shot wide.

Not much later, the people of Emmen suffered a major setback. Ben Scholte made a sliding attempt on Xander Lambrix and had to be sent off the field.

Despite the numerical difference, it was mainly Emmen that had the ball in the remainder of the match. Yet that did not result in many great opportunities. Jorrit Smeets came close with a free kick and for a moment Maarten Pouwels, who had just come on, thought regarding a penalty, but his request was not honored.

With Piotr Parzyszek in the team in addition to Pouwels, it was all or nothing for the ten Emmen residents in the final phase. Konings hit the roof of the goal, but no more goals were scored in the six minutes of extra time. As a result, Emmen suffered a painful 0-1 defeat.
