The ocean will be the central theme of the Science Festival which will be celebrated throughout France in October. In Vannes, the network of media libraries and UBS are coordinating the event. More than ten days of demonstrations are planned.
From Wednesday October 3 to Monday October 14, in the media libraries, exhibitions will be offered around the themes of marine pollution, green algae and coastal protection. On Saturday October 12, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., a workshop to discover ancient documents and contemporary works linked to the sea will be offered upon registration. That same day, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the La P’art belle association and the Arvik association will host an “expedition to discover humpback whales”, at the Beaupré-Lalande media library, upon registration, for 8-11 years old.
Conferences and Science Night with UBS
UBS will also host an exhibition in the University Library, from Thursday October 4 to Monday October 14. It will be devoted to the biodiversity of the Morbihan coast, through images, photos and videos produced by researchers from the Geo-Ocean laboratory.
On Wednesday October 9, Mouncef Sedrati, director of the Geo Ocean laboratory at UBS, will offer a conference on soft scientific solutions provided in response to climate change for the protection of the coastline. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Palais des arts. FREE ENTRANCE.
Friday, October 11 is scheduled for Science Night at UBS. It will offer a special evening with workshops, experiences and meetings, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Another date to remember is Monday October 14. At 8 p.m., Valérie Masson-Delmotte, former co-president of the IPCC, will offer a conference at UBS. By registration on https://www.univ-ubs.fr
Fun experiences
Les Petits dégréards will offer fun workshops and interactive experiences. Three highlights will be offered: on Saturday October 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Ménimur and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Palais des arts, workshops on life in the ocean will be offered for 7-10 year olds, upon registration. On Wednesday October 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Kercado, a workshop on ocean animals is open to 7-10 year olds, also upon registration.
