Cao Bang (VNA) – The Ban Gioc Waterfall Scenic Area Management Committee has asked travel agencies to inform tourists of the temporary suspension of cross-border passage in the scenic areas of Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) and Detian Falls (China) from August 11, 2024 until further notice.

The reason given is due to an incident on the Chinese side, according to the Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourist Area Management Committee (under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Cao Bang province).

The tour operators involved include Cao Bang Tourism Joint Stock Company and international tourism group VGI Travel.

The reception of domestic tourists at the Ban Gioc waterfall site is proceeding normally, the said Committee announced.

The joint experimental operation of visits to the Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) and Detian Falls (China) sites has been carried out since September 15, 2023. In 10 months, it has benefited nearly 950 groups bringing together around 12,000 tourists.

Ban Gioc Waterfall in the mountainous Cao Bang Province (northern Vietnam) is the fourth largest border waterfall in the world. Ban Gioc is also the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia. In 1997, it was officially recognized as a national scenic spot. World-renowned travel magazines have honored Ban Gioc as one of the ten most beautiful waterfalls on the planet. – VNA
