The number of outbreaks and increasing cases of infections in establishments in the region pushed health authorities to make this decision. This will be re-evaluated once the situation has improved.
The temporary return to wearing masks aims to limit the spread of respiratory viruses within facilities and to preserve the health of more vulnerable people and staff members.
The measure concerns visitors who visit a loved one in care units or living environments, including hospitals, CHSLDs or seniors’ homes.
People hospitalized or housed are not required to wear a protective mask. This will not be required to circulate in the common areas of the facilities (corridors, cafeterias, elevators, waiting rooms or worker break rooms).
Masks will be made available at the entrances to the care and accommodation units covered by this measure.
