The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has announced that the North Midway Service Plaza, located on the west side of the turnpike, will not have fuel available for the next eight weeks. This is due to the replacement and installation of new underground fuel tanks, fuel lines and fuel dispensers by the plaza’s supplier, 7-Eleven.
Fuel repairs began on Monday, September 11 and during this time, drivers will need to plan accordingly and ensure they have enough fuel to get to the next available gas station, which is located 35 miles west in North Somerset Square. .
Although fuel will not be available at the North Midway Service Plaza, other services offered at the plaza, such as restrooms, convenience stores and restaurants, will remain open to travelers. The replacement and installation of the new fuel infrastructure is part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and efficiency of service plazas along the turnpike.
It is important that drivers are aware of this temporary disruption and plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during their journey. Also, it’s worth mentioning that tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will increase in January. Therefore, travelers should also consider this when planning their travel budget.
