The relatives of the 57 victims of the train tragedy that occurred in Tempe are asking for answers, as to who gave the order to “base” the site of the collision of the two trains.
enikos.gr presents the out-of-court response of the former Regional Governor of Thessaly, Mr. Costas Agorastos, to Ms. Maria Karystianou, who claimed that in a communication she had with Mr. Agorastos, through an extra-judicial means, when, as she said, she was informed that the “bazoma ” was done through the Region -, he told her in his written reply that he was following orders, which he had received from the then Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Christos Triandopoulos.
“The Region of Thessaly and the other co-competent Authorities (judicial, Fire Service, Police, Civil Protection services of the Region, General Secretariat of Civil Protection – Emergency Planning Directorate of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection) in compliance with the applicable legislation, followed the what is determined by the provisions of the laws and the 4th Edition of the Special Plan for the Management of Human Losses (HSPA) to which I refer you – under the completely legal guidance of the General Secretary of Civil Protection, who is in charge (he was also present during the crisis- tragedy), according to the applicable laws”, it is mentioned, among other things, in the out-of-court response of Mr. Agorastos.
The out-of-court response
1) I understand and respect your pain and the memory of your dear victims of the tragedy, as I did and still do right from the beginning. Just like you, I personally and (I believe) all those who rushed to the scene of the unspeakable drama, wish to find the culprits and vindicate you and your loved ones.
“2) The questions you ask (and the heavy expressions once morest my person) which, of course, were not necessary – I understand that they are due (not to other purposes), but solely to the lack of knowledge on your part, regarding the written legislation , which regulates both the practice and the “management of incidents with numerous deaths as a consequence of natural, technological (including biological, chemical in cases, radiological and nuclear incidents) and other disasters as well as criminal and terrorist acts and is applied following the completion of triage procedures, pre-hospital care and transport of survivors” – like the Tempe tragedy.
3) The Region of Thessaly and the other co-competent Authorities (judicial, Fire Service, Police, Civil Protection services of the Region, General Secretariat of Civil Protection – Emergency Planning Directorate of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection) in compliance with the applicable legislation, followed what is determined by the provisions of the laws and the 4th Edition of the Special Plan for the Management of Human Losses (SSPA) to which I refer you – under the completely legal guidance of the General Secretary of Civil Protection, who is in charge (he was present during the crisis -tragedy), according to the applicable law.
4) All the actions and role of the Region, moreover, according to the above determined by the Special Plan, and in its implementation, “is supportive and concerns their assistance in means and infrastructures”, as (indeed) it was exhausted in the support of of those legally decided during the two (2) extraordinary Meetings of the Civil Protection Coordinating Body (S.O.P.P.) of 01/03/2023, for the management of the railway accident in the area of Tempe, which were convened at the request of Mr. Coordinator of Fire Services of Thessaly. During these meetings, all the co-competent bodies were present (i.e. the Minister of Health. Deputy Minister of Transport, Coordinator of the Fire Services of Thessaly and Central Greece. Chief of A.T.A., Deputy Commander of the 1st Army, Regional Governor of Thessaly ELAS, President and CEO of OSE, representative of OSE, Vice-Regional Governor of the Larissa Region, Regional Leader of the Thessaly Fire Brigade, representative of the Civil Protection of the Region of Thessaly, Representative of the Aegean Motorways) and the appropriate measures and actions were decided and implemented.
At the same time, it is noted, among other things, that in dealing with the multi-fatal tragedy, “as you know, all the provisions of the legislation defined, according to the above, were involved, Authorities and services (Fire, Police, Forensic Service, Prosecution and Judicial Authorities, etc.), and the laws and provisions were observed, with absolute respect for the dead and their memory”.
