In the European Parliament will be found the relatives of the victims of the train accident in Tempeto highlight their report on the government’s manipulations and the operation to cover up the political responsibilities, for the causes of the tragedy.
Pavlos Aslanidis, father of the deceased 26-year-old Dimitris, sends the message through Thesstoday.gr “the truth will shine, the guilty have lost even the moral edge.”
Speaking for the second time from the floor of the European Parliament, this time with the support of 1.3 million people who signed Maria Karystianou’s resolution to activate the law on ministerial responsibility, the relatives of the victims will request the support of the European Parliament and the abolition of parliamentary immunity.
After the personal commitment of the prosecutor Laura Kovasi to the relatives for justice, as well as the statements regarding a “block” from the application of justice, Pavlos Aslanidis reports that “the European prosecutor said the obvious, anyone who doesn’t see it is willfully blind. The government has even lost the moral advantage, they are undermining the resolution signed by 1.3 million Greeks, but the truth cannot be hidden.”
Twelve months following the fatal collision, Mr. Aslanidis underlines how the way the government and the Greek Justice handled the case is a second murder. “Beyond crime, brutality and cover-up is second murder. They don’t even respect the dead, they insult our families, they even said that we are using our children as tools”, he said, referring to politicians’ statements that are heard from time to time, while adding that new elements are constantly being added to the case file regarding the – until now – unanswered questions for the tragedy.
Placing their hopes in Europe’s justice mechanisms, but also following the wave of solidarity in the marches for the one-year anniversary of the deadly conflict, relatives will continue to be the voices of their children, so that Justice moves as it should, notes the Mr. Aslanidis. “With our children in armor, we will continue the pressure so that justice does its job properly. We will not stop until there is justice. With the large marches throughout Greece, it seemed that 80% of the people are with us”, says the father of the 26-year-old Dimitris, expressing his emotion for the people who attended the demonstrations and also for the young people who rewrote the names of the victims in front of the Parliament, following municipal crews erased the paint before it even dried…
