Winter is coming. From Friday, the cold will make a comeback. A drop in temperatures that corresponds to the beginning of the meteorological winter, which begins on December 1.
This weekend, temperatures will not exceed 2°C or 3°C on the plain, and might even drop to -1 or even -2 overnight, confirms David Dehenauw, meteorologist at the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM ). The cloud cover will be abundant, even if some sunny spells are possible in places.
With such temperatures, we can expect the first flakes. “Winter precipitation cannot be ruled out in the plains, but it is rather in the Hautes Fagnes and in the east of the country that we will see snowsays the meteorologist. If anything falls there, it will definitely be snow, especially on Saturday or Sunday.”
This being the case, it will not fall in abundant quantities. “It won’t be enough to go skiinginsists David Dehenauw. We will have a layer of one or two centimeters, but no more.“In the center and west of the country, if a few flakes are possible, the snow should not stick to the ground.
If he cannot yet decide on a harsh winter or not, David Dehenauw confirms that the cold will indeed set in for the first half of December. “In the next two weeks, we cannot expect a real thaw. Temperatures will be below normal for the season.”
