Temperatures reach below zero and the waters are freezing in central Sinai and Saint Catherine

Temperatures were recorded in the areas of central Sinai and Saint Catherine, a decrease in temperatures recorded from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius below zero.

People in central Sinai said that the water in the open spaces reached the freezing point, and a layer of snow formed on its surface, while the tops of the mountains and mountainous heights in central and southern Sinai covered layers of frost.

North Sinai regions witnessed a sharp drop in temperatures, with light cold winds blowing.

During the past 24 hours, North Sinai Governorate witnessed light and medium rains on its northern coasts in the areas of Bir al-Abed, al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid. The rains did not cause any accidents, and the operations room did not receive any reports.

Major General Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, Governor of North Sinai, confirmed that the governorate is in a situation of continuous raising of the level of preparedness, noting that the operations room is coordinating with sub-operation rooms in city councils and central departments concerned with following up on the situation, and receives complaints and quickly forwards them to the competent authorities to resolve them.

The Governor of North Sinai indicated that crisis equipment and water-sweeping vehicles were distributed in the places of water gatherings, in coordination with the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in North Sinai, to withdraw the water collected in the streets.

In a warning statement, North Sinai Governorate appealed to car owners not to park under any large banners during strong winds, and not to approach electricity poles or power transformers during rain.
