The heavy metal quintet Telomyras from Seattle, with their just released, self-titled debut EP, hits us in the face with an extremely well done piece of traditional steel that is a real joy!

The band skillfully combines the melodiousness of traditional heavy metal with the energy of early thrash, but also brings progressive elements into every song.

Cambion HERE jumps right into the EP with full power, those awesome twin guitar parts that hark back to the 1980s Maiden remember, then extremely great Thrashy riffing, a dream! singer Sammie Gorham has a great voice with a special timbre that gives her a certain recognition value and reminds me a little of the first singer of Nocturnal Rites on whose Tales of Mystery and Imagination – Album remembered. She also skillfully switches between different pitches, which makes the song very varied and interesting. Top opener!

The essence of heavy metal

With Colorless it continues on the same high level, grandiose vocal lines from Sammieand it’s just divine what Ephraim Grimm and Jack Schonher celebrate on their guitars. Eric Thomas shows his skills on the bass and you can feel the influence of a certain Mr. Harris from England. Travis Busbys Energetic drumming provides the rhythmic foundation, seasoned with concise accents and fills.

Soft starts First Blood, with balladesque acoustic guitars and emotional vocals, but then quickly turns into an up-tempo song with galloping riffs and lively drumming. The singing guitars stay in your head and the whole song invites you to headbang and play the air guitar! Cool! In the middle section the guitarists play themselves into such a frenzy that it’s an old-school headbanger’s delight! THIS is the essence of Heavy Metal!

Gripping to the end

Hydra starts with a sawing gods riff like from the 1980s metal picture book! Sammies clear and concise voice reigns supreme and gets under your skin! You can’t help but imagine what it must be like to see this band live on stage and bang your head into an ecstatic trance to their music! The crystal clear sound of the guitars in the solo parts is reminiscent of the great classics like Priest’s Painkiller, King Diamond’s Abigail or Maiden’s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

With the fifth and last song Throne Of Ruin this outstanding EP ends brilliantly and one wishes it would continue like this for a few more songs! The chorus is awesome, absolute shout-along potential! The brisk change in tempo in the middle part with a gluttonous solo a la Iron Maiden and a cool Ohoho part, which doesn’t seem superimposed here but fits like a glove, enhances this finale in addition.

Conclusion
Wow what a debut! Too bad it’s only an EP, but Telomyras pull out all the stops and bring us a piece of traditional heavy metal where everything is just right: official production, gripping vocals, energetic drums, sophisticated bass lines and fantastic guitar work! Every headbanger should have this band on their radar! 8,5 /10
