Telework: a union denounces the lack of commitment from Quebec

The participation and commitment of the Government of Quebec in the discussion forum on teleworking are far from meeting the expectations of employees.

This is the observation made by the Union of Professionals and Professionals of the Government of Quebec (SPGQ), following six meetings in which it has participated since January 2022, stumbling on passive listening, he denounced.

“As the employer had refused to negotiate the terms and conditions surrounding telework, the SPGQ wanted the forum to allow discussion and resolution of the main problems and irritants,” said Thursday Guillaume Bouvrette, third vice-president of the SPGQ, referring to results far from “tangible”.

Having threatened to slam the door of the forum, the union, which does not hide its dissatisfaction, asks Quebec to recognize certain problems related to telework and to put in place negotiated solutions.

“Whatever the outcome of the forum, the SPGQ will defend the issue of teleworking, especially since an intense period of negotiations is upon us with a view to renewing several collective agreements, including those of the public service, Revenue Quebec and the cultural sector,” added Mr. Bouvrette.
