The competition being registered, Alex Favre (25 years) and Eric Bedelek (30 years) did not learn last night of their victory in the program “Lego Masters”, season 2. But for the Swiss televiewers, the triumph is of as much more beautiful as it was made with a fondue which earned the Vaudois duo the title “best brick builder in France”, the term Lego being banned from the show.

The Vaud duo reached the final by placing parrots on a branch, a support that was imposed. But in a three-way final, cabinetmaker Alex and civil engineer Eric chose to put cheese in a fondue pot. “A what?” asked them Paulina, who gave the jury an artistic touch, while the technique was George’s business.

Animation technique

Faced with a dinosaur appearing in a New York street like King Kong and facing a cat coming out of a TV screen like Tom and Jerry, the two Swiss friends’ bet was less flashy with his fondue , but what paid off was their animation technique. Made in 25 hours with the accessories: the fondue pot is a character who turns a fork in the cheese!

The filming of the programs lasted six weeks, fed and accommodated in Paris, with nine cameras pointed at them during the construction. The two champions explained their success by roughly paraphrasing Federal Councilor Alain Berset: “As quickly as possible, as slowly as necessary,” they said. Their victory earned them a Lego cup and a check for 20,000 euros.

All-consuming passion

Inherited from their respective parents, their common passion dates back to childhood, but it became all-consuming following visiting an exhibition in Concise. Between them, they spend almost 1,500 francs a month in shops and second-hand goods, but as they said to “Arcinfo», Some coins double or triple in value.

Their collection is made up of 6 or 7, maybe even 10 million pieces of Lego distributed in a workshop, garages and various premises. Resourceful, they nevertheless prefer to compose with the parts available rather than buying them on purpose. Their thing is more vehicles and buildings, as they told “24 hours».

Their look and their personality were a hit, especially when wearing a kilt. Role-playing games and metal music bring them together. The two friends are also good shooters to the point of being titled Vaudois champions.
