This Sunday, journalist Tatiana Ortiz welcomed her former Telemundo co-worker, Cristina Pagán, to TeleOnce, who will debut tomorrow as the new sports reporter on “Las Noticias”.
Through her social networks, the communicator dedicated an emotional message to her friend, whom she has known since they both studied journalism at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (USC) in Santurce.
“A very special publication: Cristina Pagán was one of the first people I met when I started studying. Since then we became friends. We both share our passion for journalism. God has been so good to us that we had the opportunity to meet in our first job in the media,” Ortiz said.
The woman from Patilla revealed that, at one point in their careers, Pagán was the producer of Telenoticias during the weekend in the 5:00 pm edition, while she was in charge of the night edition.
“In the past years, she stood out as a producer of Telemundo’s stellar newscast. But, tomorrow, a new work stage begins and I mightn’t be more proud. Finally she will fulfill one of her biggest dreams. Welcome to the TeleOnce family, friend! To work together once more, ”she added.
“Las Noticias” recruited journalist and producer Cristina Pagán to be the new sports reporter. As reported by TVBoricuaUSA magazine, Pagán will replace Luis Joel Aymat, who was recently fired following two years as a reporter for the channel.
Pagán had been a producer for the News Department of Telemundo Puerto Rico for more than a decade. The young woman has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a master’s degree in Writing for the Media.
Pagán has been able to put her facet as a reporter into practice in spaces such as the program “Jorge y Grenda 100×35″ and Radio Isla 1320AM. Recently, she served as a reporter for Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) and the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (COPUR).
Last May, Aymat confirmed that he was fired from his job and that there is an ongoing process of which he did not want to provide more details. The communicator indicated through social networks that he was fired from him, following regarding two years in the position he held since the newscast began in 2021.
“As you know, yesterday my stage as a sports anchor in Las Noticias de Teleonce ended. I will not go into details of why I was fired because there is a process underway and I am confident that justice will be done. I can only say that it had nothing to do with my journalistic performance. With that being said, I want to thank so many people who have shown me their support at this time. I have always been grateful to life because it has put beautiful people on my way and who really love me, ”said Aymat.
“To the faithful viewers, THOUSAND THANKS. Sometimes things have to happen as you are to understand the impact that one can have on so many people. Thank you for supporting my work, and above all for the love you have given me unconditionally. To my companions, I love you, and we will meet once more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she added.
Prior to being the sports anchor on the local channel, Aymat worked as an anchor on the Digital Edition of Univisión news in Puerto Rico. In addition, he has stood out as a narrator for various sporting events such as the BSN and the Caribbean Series.
According to Fernan Vélez, “El Nalgorazi”, the journalist might have been fired following he went out to buy a pasty in an establishment near the TeleOnce studios and there he met his boss.
The boss, allegedly, asked him if he was on break and he said yes. Later, he tested positive for COVID-19, so he was off the channel for a while and when he returned they told him that he had been fired.
