Telekom is Pushing Ahead with Mobile Communications Expansion in Frankfurt am Main
- Mobile phone site expanded and newly built with LTE
- Improved supply along the BAB and railway lines
So here’s the scoop: Telekom is rolling out the red carpet for mobile phones in Frankfurt! They’ve spruced up six sites and added a brand new LTE location, which sounds exciting unless you’ve been to the pub the night before and can’t find your mobile signal in the beer garden. Remember that whole “Can you hear me now?” debacle? Better luck next time!
Reception is reportedly soaring to new heights, and hey, who doesn’t want a better chance of catching that all-important call from your mother-in-law while you’re trying to ignore her texts? “The need for bandwidth is constantly increasing – around 30 percent per year,” quips Georg von Wagner, the Deutsche Telekom spokesperson. Sounds like our TikTok addiction is about to get a serious upgrade!
Status and Outlook
According to the latest gossip—sorry, I mean data—Telekom now has 409 locations buzzing in Frankfurt. That’s almost 100 percent of households covered, which is an impressive feat unless you’re living in a cave or your WiFi signal is taking holidays more often than you do.
Future Plans
By 2026, we can look forward to another 65 locations sprouting up like mushrooms after rain. Not enough? Well, they’re also planning upgrades for 267 radio masts—because who doesn’t love a good gizmo? This means more LTE and probably a lot of excited nerds trying to explain how many megabits per second you can get while waiting for the bus.
Telekom is asking for a little help from its friends – that’s you, the good people—municipalities and roof owners alike. If you’ve got a roof that’s feeling lonely, consider renting it out for a cell site. After all, what’s better than making a little money while getting the best WiFi signal in the neighborhood? Super effective, I say!
