O Telegram announced today some news regarding the Stories — which reached most users last month — and other areas of the messenger.

Regarding Stories, they might only be published by individual accounts until now; now, channels they will also be able to do so, albeit with some conditions.

For a channel to publish a story, it must receive impulses of users who are Telegram Premium subscribers. Upon reaching a certain number of impulses, the channels reach different levels; At each level, one more story can be posted. Users, in turn, can boost one channel per day, with the ability to move their boost between channels every 24 hours.

To request boosts from channel subscribers, there is a special link, which can be obtained by accessing the option related to the resource in the “Statistics” tab, within the “More” menu, on the channel profile. In this area, it is also possible to see how many impulses the channel needs to level up. Even with the necessary impulses, the administrator who publishes the Stories also needs to be a Telegram Premium subscriber.

According to the CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 from Telegram, Pavel Durovthese limitations are due to the company’s attempt to avoid spam from channels in Stories. This is also the reason why only subscribers can send boosts, in order to avoid creating fake profiles and/or just to boost channels.

Sticker reaction and audio in Stories

In addition to this new feature, Stories gained, in general, two new features almost directly imported from Instagram. Among them we can now add stickers reaction so that anyone who sees it can reply to the post with an emoji just by touching them. The difference here is that a reaction counter is displayed at the bottom of the story if it is posted by a channel.

Subscribers can insert five of these stickers into a story, while others can do so with just one sticker per post. To add it, simply tap the thought bubble icon and select the option you want. Premium members can choose their custom emojis.

The other new feature is the addition of music to Stories. The difference in relation to Instagram functionality is that they can only be chosen audio files stored on the device. To add them, simply tap “Audio”, select the file and adjust it in the story to be posted. You can maintain the original sound of videos, move the added track to any position and even add sound effects.

Single view media and login alerts

Finally, we have two reformulations of existing resources. The first of them is that of single view media (previously self-destructive photos and videos), which, in addition to gaining a new appearance and names, gained the same icon as WhatsApp for the resource.

Simply tap the symbol with a circle dissolving around a number “1”, within the media editor, to choose the time for which the media can be seen by the recipient and send. After the specified time, the photo or video will be deleted and will no longer be viewable, nor will it be possible to take screenshots.

The other novelty is that the login alerts they will now also be displayed at the top of the conversation list, in addition to the notification sent through the Telegram conversation. In the alert itself, there are options to say that it really was you (or that it wasn’t you), in order to protect your account instantly.

In addition to these features, the update includes bug fixes and optimizations in areas of the application. On iOS, sending videos has improved, according to the company, becoming faster and the progress bar faster.
