Telegram will have to hand over data from groups and users suspected of plan attacks on schools following court order made by the Federal Police, the PF. The application has 24 hours to respond to the request, under penalty of suspending the service in Brazil.

The request, made this Wednesday (19), notifies the app to pass on information regarding neo-Nazi groups that would be apologizing for violence in schools, including encouraging children to do so.

Telegram has not yet officially manifested itself to the press, according to the G1 portal. If it is suspended, the operators will be informed regarding the PF’s decision. This takes place in a context where, following attacks on schools in São Paulo and Santa Catarina, the Ministry of Justice says it has identified almost 800 profiles that were removed from the air for encouraging violence.

According to Flávio Dino, regarding 100 of these would have their contents preserved to help with investigations. There were also 225 people arrested, almost 700 teenagers and adults subpoenaed to give testimony in police stations, 155 searches and seizures, in a total of 1,224 cases under investigation so far regarding possible stimuli to violence in schools.
