Tel Aviv destroys 100 Hamas rocket launchers in northern Gaza – news

The Israeli army claimed to have destroyed, in the last few hours, 100 rocket launchers belonging to the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Beit Lahia, in the north of the Gaza Strip.

“During the activity of the Israel Defense Forces, in the Beit Lahia area, the troops located around 100 rocket installations and 60 rockets ready for use”, indicated a military statement, cited by the EFE news agency.

The army also said it killed dozens of Hamas militants, identifying them as terrorists.

“In a coordinated operation between ground and air troops around the Shati refugee camp, also in the North, planes and a helicopter were sent to attack nine terrorist agents,” he added.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced here on Monday that the “intensive phase” of the war had ended in the North of the Gaza Strip, where troops would now concentrate on specific operations to destroy Hamas facilities or against localized targets.

Gallant also promised that soon, the war will ease in Khan Younis, in the south of the enclave, where most of the fighting is currently concentrated, with Tel Aviv’s priority being Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohamed Deif, who are believed to be hidden in underground tunnels in the city.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007, was triggered by the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israeli territory on October 7, which left nearly 1,200 dead and 240 hostages.

Israel’s response has already claimed at least 24,000 lives and injured more than 60,000 in the Gaza Strip.
