Tel Aviv and Haifa open all shelters and cancel all activities

The municipality said in a statement on its official Facebook page: “In continuation of the security developments in the north, the Tel Aviv Municipality assessed the situation this morning with the participation of the mayor and all security agencies.”

The statement added, “The municipality is working in full cooperation with the internal leadership, the Israel Police and various rescue agencies and is ready to respond to any request.”

The statement continued, “Under the direction of the Interior Command, bathing beaches are now closed, and recreational activities will take place according to the instructions of the Interior Command only in places where protected spaces are available.”

“We opened all the shelters this morning,” he added.

He stated that “240 shelters in Tel Aviv-Yafo are being maintained and equipped regularly and are always ready now.”

In northern Israel, the mayor of Haifa said, “We have opened all the shelters, canceled a performance that was planned for tonight, and the University of Haifa has canceled all activities, and we urge residents to stay near a protected area,” according to Israel’s Army Radio.

The Israeli army announced at dawn on Sunday a “preemptive attack” against the Palestinian factions’ movement, and Lebanese and Israeli sources confirmed that the Israeli army carried out more than 40 raids on areas in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese factions also announced in a statement the start of the attack on Israel, in response to the assassination of one of its most prominent leaders, Fouad Shukr, in an air attack on a special Israeli military target.
