Tejashwi paid a lightning visit to the medical college and the superintendent prepared to sleep

Patna: Beds were made and mosquito nets were spread and a senior official of the hospital was preparing to go to bed, this was the sight seen in the hospital superintendent’s office when Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav paid a lightning visit to Patna Medical College last night.

Ahead of the meeting with the top officials of the state health department, Tejashwi came to the Patna Medical College to see the condition of the hospitals in the capital.

Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Health Minister, had received many complaints regarding the apathy of the medical college. After this, he reached the hospital on Tuesday night. Sensing the negligence firsthand, Tejashwi went to the superintendent’s office asking his companions if the responsible persons were sleeping. The minister was shocked when the door of the guard office opened and the senior officer of the hospital was preparing to sleep.

Tejashwi Yadav expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the hospital including cleanliness and other things. When he visited the wards, patients and their attendants raised complaints ranging from non-availability of medicines to unsanitary toilets.

Footage also surfaced of a dead body lying in the corridor instead of being shifted to the morgue. Stray animals can also be seen entering and exiting the hospital at will.

Toilets are dirty. There are no doors. Women use toilets etc. outside the hospital by paying. The patients told the minister that the medicines prescribed by the doctors were not available in the hospital pharmacy and had to be bought from outside.

Not even a senior doctor was present in the hospital when Tejashwi visited. Last night, Tejashwi visited three government hospitals in Patna, including the medical college. Tejashwi responded to the media following the visit that there was no duty roster etc. in the hospitals and many irregularities were found. He added that everything will be resolved and steps will be taken to seek clarification from those responsible.
