Ramezan Sharif, the spokesman for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), caused a surprising stir this week with an apparent confession. At a news conference on Wednesday, he described the October 7 Hamas massacre as an act of revenge for the killing of powerful Iranian IRGC General Ghassem Soleimani four years ago. He was killed in a US drone attack in Iraq in January 2020.
