In this regard, Dr. Marwa Adel, an oral cosmetic specialist, warned once morest being led by the natural methods of teeth whitening that many promote on social media.
She added that most of these methods cause erosion of the enamel layer that covers the surface of the teeth from the outside, which exposes them to the risk of cracking and breaking, and may even lead to loss.
Marwa denied the validity of the common belief regarding the effectiveness of honey in whitening teeth and cleaning them of pigmentation, pointing out that there is no scientific evidence to prove that it helps in this.

The oral beautician explained that honey contains a high percentage of sugars, which pose a major threat to the health of the teeth, as they cause tooth decay because they increase the activity of oral bacteria and encourage them to grow and reproduce.
She emphasized that whitening sessions at the doctor’s office are the ideal solution to obtain a bright white smile, because they contribute to getting rid of yellowing of the teeth and cleaning them of pigmentation permanently.

Marwa concluded her talk by pointing out that there are reliable guidelines to avoid yellowing of teeth and maintain their health, most notably:
– Brush your teeth with toothpaste twice a day.
– Use medical floss once a day, to get rid of food debris stuck between the tooth gaps.
– Rinsing the mouth with medical rinse to eliminate bacteria.
– Quit smoking permanently, because it is one of the wrong habits that causes yellowing of teeth and darkening of gums.
– Avoid tea and coffee or rinsing your mouth with running water following consuming them, as they contain tannin, which accumulates on the surface of the teeth, causing them to turn yellow.
– Teeth cleaning in the doctor’s office, to get rid of plaque and tartar.
