Two teenagers, ages 14 and 16, were arrested for their alleged participation in a violent attempt to steal a car in the commune of La Cisterna, in the Metropolitan region.

It was in the early hours of this Sunday when the victim, aboard his personal cell phone, was traveling in the vicinity of the aforementioned commune and upon arriving at the intersection of Argentina and Inés Rivas streets, he was approached and intimidated by three strangers.

The assailants did not expect that the victim would quickly begin to struggle in order to thwart the crime. This is how he managed to retain one of those involved until the arrival of the Carabineros.

The neighbors, meanwhile, also played an important role in this situation because they arrested a second person involved, while the third teenager involved managed to escape from the sector.

“The arrest of two teenagers was achieved, thanks to the collaboration of citizens, who were placed at the disposal of the court,” explained Lieutenant Cristóbal Lillo, patrol officer of the Prefecture of Santiago Sur.

These minors aged 14 and 16, both Chilean, have no previous criminal record and were at the disposal of the Public Ministry. At the same time, the investigation is ongoing to identify the other person involved who – at the close of this article – remains a fugitive.
