Teenagers were caught by the police after breaking glass doors and stealing precious metals on Geumeunbang Street in downtown Gwangju.
On this street, teenagers were arrested for robbing gold and silver rooms eight months ago.
Merchants said that security became unstable as the nearby police box closed, and urged measures to be taken.

The men who seemed to be hanging around outside the gold and silver room suddenly took out hammers and broke the glass door to enter.
He pushes away the cloth cover, smashes the display case, and sweeps the precious metals into his bag before escaping.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning, and it was none other than a group of teenagers.
It took only about 40 seconds for the teenagers to break into the gold and silver room, steal the precious metal, and run away.
The suspects who fled on foot were immediately arrested by the police in about 40 minutes.
[경찰 관계자 : 낮에 (피의자) 3명이 밥 먹으면서 한탕 해서 서울 가서 쓰자 그래서 범행 한 거죠.]
Some of the stolen jewelry was dropped by the thieves as they fled, and the damage was never recovered.
There was a similar theft in December of last year on Geumeunbang Street in Chungjang-ro 4-ga, Gwangju, where the crime took place.
Merchants are demanding the reopening of the Chungjang Police Station, which is just next to Geumeunbang Street.
As there are about 60 gold and silver rooms alone, 24-hour security activities are needed.
