Logan Lose intended to fly from Florida to Ohio, but accidentally boarded a flight to Puerto Rico./Krista Lose

(CNN) Logan Roos, a 16-year-old boy from the southern state of Florida, was supposed to be heading to his mother’s home in Ohio on a low-cost flight with Frontier Airlines, but instead ended up getting on a flight to Puerto Rico instead. Ta.
Jennifer Delacruz, director of corporate communications for Frontier Airlines, said Logan was scheduled to take a flight from Tampa to Cleveland on Dec. 22, but mistakenly boarded a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The flight to Ohio and the flight to Puerto Rico both departed from the same gate, with the flight to Puerto Rico departing first.
Logan’s father, Ryan Rose, said Logan has a fear of flying and this was the first time he had flown alone. Rose said he and his now-wife made sure to give Logan directions on how to get to the gate.
When Logan arrived at the gate, passengers had already begun boarding, Rose said.
Logan asked the woman in charge if boarding had begun, and the woman answered, “Yes,” and then checked to make sure her bag was intact. She said she didn’t scan the ticket, she just took one look at it and said, “I’m fine with this flight,” so Logan went straight on board.
“If[the airline employee]had scanned my son’s boarding pass, they would have found out that he was on a different flight,” Rose said.
Mr. Rose received a call from Mr. Logan’s mother around 8:30 p.m. to inform him that her son had boarded the plane, but he felt strange because it was too early for boarding. When my 9-year-old son checked the flight status, he discovered that a flight to Puerto Rico had just departed from the same gate.
When she tried to call her son, she mightn’t get through to answering machine, so she immediately contacted Frontier Airlines. Around 10:15 p.m., the airline received a call saying Logan was on board a flight to Puerto Rico and the pilot was advised to be careful.
Logan then returned to Tampa, arriving around 3:30 a.m. She boarded a flight to Cleveland at 7:45 a.m.
“It was a stressful and difficult experience for everyone,” Roos told CNN.
Frontier Airlines does not have a program for unaccompanied minors, but it does allow passengers 15 and older to fly alone.
The U.S. Department of Transportation says there are no regulations once morest minors flying alone, but each airline has specific procedures in place to protect children while traveling by plane. However, most airlines currently allow passengers over the age of 15 to board domestic flights alone without going through the procedures for unaccompanied minors.
