Within the Provence Alpes Méditerranée region, the preservation of water resources is of increased importance due to the Mediterranean climate, the extremes of which are becoming more and more severe due to climate change (heat waves, heatwaves, droughts, reduction snow cover). The year 2022, marked by a singular and exceptional drought in terms of duration and magnitude, illustrates the global changes now established in the region. We are now in a phase of reduced availability of water resources, which requires collective adaptation actions now. This leads us to question our collective capacity to anticipate and manage the issues linked to water sharing in the short, medium and long term, as well as to identify levers for improvement to preserve water resources.
The CYCL’EAU exhibitions highlight policies, projects, solutions and innovations linked to water management, as well as the challenges faced by communities and economic sectors to cope with the scarcity of the resource in the context of climate change. Each edition is coordinated with regional and local authorities as well as Water Agencies. These events include roundtables and conferences that address the most relevant issues in each territory.
On November 29 and 30, Aix-en-Provence will welcome 70 exhibitors, including private companies alongside official partners such as the South Region, the Aix Marseille Provence Metropolis and the Rhône Méditerranée Corsica Water Agency.
The Innovation Village will be run by the Water sector clusters, such as Aqua Valley for the South/Occitanie, DREAM Eau & Milieux, Hydréos for the Grand Est, and the EA-Eco Entreprises cluster. It will also host emerging projects and innovative start-ups.
