Technical Problems Ground Red Wings: Delays in Flights to and from Antalya – Latest Updates!

The Russian airline Red Wings, due to technical problems, was unable to send passengers from Koltsovo Airport to Antalya in time and take them back, reports Interfax.

The airline explained that two of the three Boeing-777 aircraft in the Red Wings fleet simultaneously failed. Red Wings has “requested on a commercial basis” a plane from Ikar Airlines to pick up passengers, the company said.

The plane of the airline “Ikar” has already taken off from Moscow to Yekaterinburg to pick up passengers from Yekaterinburg to Antalya. The same board is going to return passengers awaiting departure from Antalya to Yekaterinburg. The press service of Red Wings told Interfax that 410 people are expected to depart flights in both directions.

The flight from Antalya to Yekaterinburg was supposed to take off on August 12, and from Yekaterinburg to Antalya on August 13.

The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that Red Wings “promptly consult with other Russian airlines to attract additional aircraft.” Some of the passengers previously agreed to be taken out by Pegas Fly, Interfax reports.

The sanctions imposed following the start of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine affect, among other things, civil aviation. In particular, European and American companies are prohibited from directly supplying spare parts and carrying out maintenance of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Leasing companies, within the framework of sanctions, must seek the return of liners leased from Russian carriers.

Red Wings is one of the ten largest airlines in the Russian Federation in terms of passenger traffic.
