Technical mission visits area of ​​future water and sanitation works in the east of the country

Asunción, IP Agency.- An important technical and environmental mission toured the metropolitan area of ​​Ciudad del Este, department of Alto Paraná, where the drinking water and sanitation program will be developed.

National and international experts took part in the activity and evaluated future intervention sites, reported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

The multidisciplinary team was made up of specialists from the MOPC, the Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (Dapsan), the Directorate of Socio-Environmental Management (DGSA), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Paraguayan Health Services Company (Essap).

It is worth mentioning that the plan includes the construction of sanitary sewage, wastewater and drinking water treatment plants, as well as a distribution center that will benefit Ciudad del Este and Presidente Franco.

During the tour, the technicians analyzed the work methodologies and defined strategies to mitigate possible environmental impacts.

About the project

Currently, in the analysis phase within the bidding process, the initiative has an estimated investment of G. 200,000 million and is expected to benefit more than 300,000 people, that is, 45,000 homes with access to drinking water.

Added to this is the new sanitary sewage system, which means a better quality of life for the population, guaranteeing a healthier and more sustainable environment.
