With its seat cushion, Razer wants to make people feel the actions of video games

How to increase immersion in video games? Razer is making its contribution with its gaming cushion. Placed on its seat, the object allows a person to feel the actions experienced in the game thanks to 16 haptic actuators.

Razer’s Project Esther © Razer

Presented at CES in Las Vegas, the Esther project from the gaming specialist adapts to all seats. It will generate movements directly linked to the events taking place on the screen. A burst of automatic weapon? Repeated vibrations are generated to simulate bullets. Does your character get punched? You will receive a more intense impact.

This innovation is in line with the principle of haptic jackets, already available on the market. But as always, the technology must first be digested by the developers before being used in future video games. Razer has therefore provided development kits to certain studios to familiarize them with the haptic cushion.

Car EcoFlow also has the Smart Home Panel 2, a charging supplement system that can add 21.6 kW of power.

Connected to the inverter, the electrical appliances in the house are assured of an uninterrupted connection. Thus preventing possible damage linked to variation in current intensity.

The Delta Pro Ultra is priced at $5,799, the Smart Home Panel 2 at $1,899. They are available in the United States. No release date has been announced for France

Flic, the button that wants to control your house simply

It’s a name that sounds strange in French ears, but the startup Flic does not intend to police the connected home. Rather help you control it as simply as possible, using a discreet button. This can be attached anywhere you want, can even be worn on the wrist in a silicone bracelet or attached to a hook on your clothing.

From the companion application, all you need to do is decide on the actions undertaken by pressing a single, double or prolonged press. By activating it, it is possible to turn on a lamp, close the shutters, launch Spotify, activate an alarm or even call for help. Also, a press can trigger a batch of actions.

The Swedish startup has dozens of partner brands including Ikea, Philips Hue and Sonos and even automobile brands like Opel or Citroën from the Stellantis group. And if your device is not referenced, it is possible to assign scenarios via the IFTT home automation protocol in the application.

Flic has other products in its range such as a home controller with Ethernet socket and Bluetooth, infrared connection, via a jack socket when your smartphone is no longer nearby to trigger the action (100 euros). There is also a mini hub (around 40 euros) or a larger Flic Twist button with a dimmer surrounding the central button. This brings other possibilities such as varying the volume of the music or the intensity of the light from a lamp, but also to choose between several rooms to activate.

This stroller rocks your baby all by itself

It’s not just cars that are autonomous, strollers can also move on their own. At CES 2024, Glüxkind is offering its Ella model, which has a “hands-free” mode. Once activated, the stroller will move forward by itself, but also brake and stop automatically.

Glüxkind’s stroller is also equipped with an obstacle detection system, promising “parking assistance”. But this device helps above all when the object is in autonomous driving. The integrated sensors can thus warn in the event of danger, by identifying a car, a bicycle, animals or humans.

These capabilities will make life easier for parents when it is necessary to go up a hill – by activating its motorized wheels – or when going down a steep street – by reducing the speed of the stroller. But it is a very specific mode that should delight users. The “Rock your baby” mode will move the model forward and backward to rock babies placed inside. In complete autonomy.

The startup Urtopia has integrated ChatGPT into its electric bike

This is probably not where we expected to come across ChatGPT, but OpenAI’s generative AI also knows how to ride a bike. Or at least, guide cyclists. The startup Urtopia has integrated the conversational robot into its Carbon 1 Pro electric bike.

The presence of ChatGPT is materialized by a button on the handlebars. Arrows allow you to navigate on the on-board screen to display the speed, the duration of the session, the distance traveled or even the weather.

But if you hold the button, a small face will appear on the screen. The cyclist can then chat with ChatGPT using an on-board microphone. It is then possible to call on the OpenAI conversational robot, which can, among other things, give you the direction to follow.

According to the company Urtopia, ChatGPT can answer all your requests. Thus, the AI model can turn into a tourist guide and tell you things to see or places to visit on your journey.

The Carbon 1 Pro is not just ChatGPT. It’s also an ambitious e-bike apart from that. Classified level 2, it has multiple sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, etc.), comes in 3 sizes (S, M, L), connects via Bluetooth to any smartphone and will provide updates over OTA (over the air). It also has a 4G eSIM to work. The Urtopia bike should be available in March for a price of around $4,000.

Skwheel, the pair of all-terrain skis for sliding without snow

Another French company at the CES show in Las Vegas, Skwheel surprises with its promise. The company innovates in the field of mobility. Here, no scooter or gyroscopic monowheel, Skwheel unveils a pair of all-terrain skis.

The promise of the object: “rediscover the sensations of sliding on wheels”, explains Antoine Massebeur, the co-founder of Skwheel.

Once attached to the feet, this type of large electric roller skates allows you to reproduce the movements usually reserved for classic skis. But now, there is no need for snow, the Skwheels go everywhere: from the road to the dirt track to the sand.

The steering is therefore managed by tilting your body to one side or the other. The speed is managed using a remote control. The pair of electric skis can reach up to 80 km/h, but remains limited to 25 km/h for a range of 25 to 30 km.

The presentation of the object at the CEs in Las Vegas accompanies the launch of crowdfunding. The first deliveries are scheduled for June for a final price of 2,200 euros, reduced to 1,800 euros for people who have supported the project.

A French company offers to be massaged by… a robot

The French are strongly represented at the CES show in Las Vegas. More than 200 companies came to unveil their new products. Among them, many offer solutions in the health field.

Thus, beyond the local Withings and its BeamO multiscope, it is possible to come across another representative of French technology: Capsix Robotics.

This company surprises in the aisles of the salon by offering a massage to visitors. But CES obliges, it is a robotic arm which takes care of your back using a sort of clog, made from foam and metal.

The iYU solution offers several types of massages: toning, relaxing. An algorithm then analyzes the user’s morphology so that the robot massager adapts to the shape of the body of the person being massaged.

The sensation is similar to a real massage, but not enough to replace physiotherapists for the time being. But the iYU robot could find its place in spas, gyms or even corporate offices.
