Tebboune and Haitham call for an immediate end to Israel’s aggression against Palestine and Lebanon

Yesterday, Wednesday, Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune called for “the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and on Lebanon, Syria and Iran.”

This came in a joint statement by the two countries conveyed by the Omani Foreign Ministry, at the conclusion of a visit by Tebboune to the Sultanate of Oman, which is the first visit by an Algerian president to the Sultanate.

The two leaders expressed “satisfaction with the steps to advance relations between the two countries to broader horizons and broader and more comprehensive fields.”

They also blessed “the initiative to establish a joint Omani-Algerian investment fund, through which partnerships and joint projects will be established in the fields of renewable energy, petrochemicals, desert agriculture, technology, tourism and other promising fields.”

They welcomed “the signing of 8 memorandums of understanding in various sectors, including the areas of investment promotion, organizing exhibitions, events and conferences, education, higher education, environment and sustainable development, financial services, employment and training, and media.”

The two leaders stressed “the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria and Iran, and the right of the Palestinian brothers to end the illegal occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution, and its accession to membership in the United Nations.”

On Monday, Tebboune began a visit to the Sultanate of Oman, coming from Egypt.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with absolute American support, has been waging a “genocidal” war on Gaza, resulting in more than 144,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one The worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
