There was a good four years between the second and third seasons of Atlanta. Probably only a few months between seasons three and four. A teaser trailer announces the fourth and final season of Donald Glover’s surreal work for September.

US cable broadcaster FX has released a first teaser trailer for the fourth season of the elusive series Atlanta, which is crammed full of references to the series’ history. It rains cornflakes, a piano falls from the sky, a baby ostrich hatches from an egg, we see the alligator from the first season or the special tree from the third, while Earn (Donald Glover) and Van (Zazie Beetz) in front of one from the series well-known convenience store and shortly therefollowing Alfred Miles aka Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) and Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) join them.

The Mike drop, which isn’t one because the microphone is floating, is then the starting month of September. Noisy Deadline is the motto of the season: “Has Atlanta changed or have they?” (in approximately: “Has Atlanta changed or have they changed?“). The song in the trailer is Sault’s “Bitter Streets“.

In the third season, Paper Boi and Co were on a major European musical tour, which also left plenty of time for excursions. For example, to experiment with drugs, try out business (and fall flat on your face), or celebrate eccentric parties and meet strange people. In addition, however, there were also some digressions in which the main actors, if at all, were only marginal figures. Some socially relevant topics of modern America were brought into focus.

The third and fourth seasons were shot in one go. There was a four-year break between seasons two and three. In the USA, the new one went on the air from the end of March 2022. In Germany it followed at the end of June. So far, Donald Glover’s series has won five Emmys since 2016.
